A judge in Illinois has upheld a $25 million settlement in a boating injury lawsuit. The Cook County Circuit Court judge on Tuesday upheld a previous large settlement of the personal injury lawsuit. The complaint was filed by one man who was permanently injured in a fall off a boat in 2009, which left him a quadriplegic. The defendants in the lawsuit had argued that the plaintiff and his attorneys violated due process by hiding a note from the jury during their deliberation in the case.

An Ohio homeowner has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit seeking over $25 million in damages. The lawsuit was filed over a fatal house fire that ended in the deaths of four people. The lawsuit alleges that the Akron homeowner did not provide smoke detectors in the home, as required by city ordinance, which led to the deaths of the individuals. The wrongful death complaint alleges that the lack of smoke detectors in the home caused 'severe injuries, burns and smoke inhalation sustained during the fire,' resulting in death.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a nursing home in Woodway, Texas. The family of a woman who died in February after being admitted to the facility filed the suit this in Waco's 170th State District Court and allege that lack of care at the Regent Care Center of Woodway led to the elderly woman's death.
