Uber Report: Over 3,000 Sexual Assaults Reported in U.S. rides in 2018 |

Uber received 3,045 reports of sexual assault during U.S. rides in 2018, the company revealed in a wide-reaching safety report. The safety report released Thursday detailed reported instances of sexual assault, fatal physical assault and motor vehicle fatalities during Uber rides over the past two years.

Cancer Cluster Identified in Houston Neighborhood |

State officials have identified a cancer cluster in a north Houston neighborhood near a site contaminated over many decades by railroad operations that treated wooden ties with the hazardous product creosote. Creosote was used for more than 80 years in a railroad yard located in the historically black neighborhoods of Fifth Ward and Kashmere Gardens. Creosote treatments ceased there in the 1980s, but chemicals sank deep into the ground and created a plume that has moved beneath an estimated 110 homes in the area and contaminated groundwater.

Investigation: Hundreds Accused of Child Abuse by Doctors Come Forward |

The flood of responses demonstrates the nationwide reach of problems detailed in the series, which showed that child welfare workers in Texas removed children from homes after receiving reports from doctors that were later called into question.

The woman says her husband died of a heart attack shortly after the explosion last week. Cincinnati School Seeks Immunity in Bullied Student's Suicide Death |

Officials with an elementary school in Cincinnati are asking for immunity in a lawsuit over the death of a Carson Elementary School student who took his own life after being bullied. The lawsuit was filed by the family of the student, who committed suicide days after a severe bullying incident. According to the lawsuit, the child was knocked unconscious in a school bathroom by another student. School officials told the boy's mother he had fainted. They are now seeking immunity under the law for preventing all violence between students.
