150,000 Toyota Tacoma Trucks Recalled

Toyota Motors has issued a recall of 150,000 Tacoma trucks, model years 2001-2004, due to issues with the mechanism that holds the spare tire. The company said the mechanism can corrode and break, which may cause the tire to fall off. The recall only affects vehicles in states with "high road-salt usage," which amounts to 20 states, including Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Ohio, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Nursing Home Named in Patient Treatment Suit

The family of an elderly Chicago woman living in a local nursing home have filed suit against the home, alleging poor medical care and neglect. According to the suit, the care was so bad that the woman had 57 maggots growing in her left ear and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. The lawsuit is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

Suit Settled over Death at UPenn Frat Party

A $3.375 million lawsuit over the death of a 20-year-old Ohio college student at a University of Pennsylvania frat party has been settled with the parents of the victim. The student fell over a stairway railing onto his head, suffering a traumatic brain injury. The suit accused the fraternity of serving alcohol to the underage student and claimed a local store allowed him to buy beer earlier in the night.
