Due to Hurricane Harvey, the Houston Membership Drive is Cancelled
Due to the terrible flood conditions caused by Hurricane Harvey in and around the Houston area, we have decided to cancel the Houston membership drive that was set to take place this Wednesday during the TTLA Statewide Membership Drive. Thank you to everyone who had volunteered to participate, and we continue to keep those in the storm's path in our thoughts and prayers. We are going to move forward with the other three membership drive locations in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. Click on the headline to registered.

Order allows modification, suspension of court procedures in Harvey-affected proceedings
The Texas Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals issued an emergency order Monday authorizing modification and suspension of court procedures in proceedings affected by Hurricane Harvey. The order expires September 27 unless the courts extend it. Click on the headline to learn more.

ExxonMobil Refineries are Damaged in Hurricane Harvey, Releasing Hazardous Pollutants
ExxonMobil acknowledged Tuesday that Hurricane Harvey damaged two of its refineries, causing the release of hazardous pollutants. The acknowledgment, in a regulatory filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, follows repeated complaints on Twitter of an â??unbearableâ?? chemical smell over parts of Houston. However, it was not immediately clear what caused the smell.

Former Baylor Saffer Seeks $750K in 9th Title IX Lawsuit

Former Baylor University Title IX staffer Gabrielle Lyons sued the school late Monday, alleging university officials retaliated against her while she investigated reports of sexual violence. She demands $750,000 in lost wages, mental anguish and other costs, court records show. Lyons resigned in November 2015 after a seven-month stint working beneath then-Title IX Coordinator Patty Crawford, whose claims of discrimination and retaliation Lyons echoed in January.
