After the incident, the plaintiff was taken to the hospital and suffered headaches, walking pain and difficulty breathing and swallowing. The lawsuit, filed in May, alleges assault, battery, bullying and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The plaintiff has since transferred schools.

The Dover Area School District in Pennsylvania is facing a lawsuit by a student who was sexually abused and impregnated by her former music teacher. The lawsuit filed by the girl alleges that the school district repeatedly mishandled her reports of the abuse. According to the lawsuit, the girl was told to recant her accusations that the music teacher and band director was having sex with her. The teacher was sentenced in May to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to porn charges. An additional 5 to 10 years was added a month later for his guilty pleas to statutory sexual assault and indecent assault charges.
