Millions Consumed Potentially Unsafe Water in the Past 10 Years |
|
Texas, Oklahoma and California were the top states for EPA drinking water quality violations during the past decade. As many as 63 million people â?? nearly a fifth of the country â?? from rural central California to the boroughs of New York City, were exposed to potentially unsafe water more than once during the past decade, according to a News21 investigation of 680,000 water quality and monitoring violations from the Environmental Protection Agency. The findings highlight how six decades of industrial dumping, farming pollution, and water plant and distribution pipe deterioration have taken a toll on local water systems.

Two women from Charlottesville, Virginia, who were injured when a driver crashed into a crowd of protesters have filed a lawsuit against organizers of the white nationalist rally and the driver of the car. The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday and seeks $3 million in compensation from the defendants. The lawsuit states that the women were driving home when their car was hit by the other driver. Some of the pedestrian victims hit by the driver were also thrown onto the plaintiffs' car, says the lawsuit. One woman was killed in the incident and the driver has been charged with second-degree murder for killing her with his car, and additional charges for the other 19 people injured.

Former Texas A&M Student Files Title IX Lawsuit Alleging Male Gender Bias |
|
A former student of Texas A&M University has filed a Title IX lawsuit against the school alleging male gender bias. The former Corps of Cadets member states in the lawsuit that he was falsely accused of sexually assaulting a female member of the Corps and that school officials violated his due-process rights. The lawsuit alleges that the plaintiff was falsely accused of the assault, which resulted in his depression and eventual admittance into a mental facility. The plaintiff states that the university did not allow him a chance to defend himself against the allegations while he was hospitalized. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from the university and nine university officials named as defendants.
