Spirit Airlines Facing Lawsuit Over Death of 90-Year-Old Employee |
|
Spirit Airlines is facing a lawsuit over the death of one of its elderly baggage handlers. The lawsuit was filed by the widow of the 90-year-old former employee of the airline, who suffered a hernia while on the job in 2015. The wrongful death lawsuit alleges that the then-88-year-old man suffered the injury after lifting 500 pieces of luggage while at work. Following a hernia, the man underwent surgery to repair the injury, which caused him to have a fatal heart attack two years later, says the lawsuit. His widow is seeking medical expenses incurred during her husband's treatment for the hernia, colitis and congestive heart failure.
