The lawsuit, filed in Sacramento County Superior Court by sixteen California district attorneys, alleged that FedEx was guilty of violating environmental regulations with its transportation of waste. According to the lawsuit, FedEx failed to identify and properly transport the hazardous materials, in violation of California law. Judge Raymond M. Cadei signed the $1.75 million settlement order. Prosecutors say that FedEx was cooperative during the investigation. The lawsuit was filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and alleges that BMW's criminal background check unfairly discriminated against black candidates. According to the lawsuit, BMW's background checks had a "significant disparate impact" on black applicants and employees and were "not job related and consistent with business necessity." Senior U.S. District Judge Henry M. Herlong Jr. recently denied the defendant's request for summary judgment in the case. The lawsuit will not go to trial until after September 29. David Dykes, Greenville News 08/11/2015 | Read Article: Greenville News | Dallas Woman Sues Uber After Accusing Driver of Sexual Assault | | A Dallas woman who says she was sexually assaulted by an Uber driver last month is suing the ride-hailing company. The suit, filed Tuesday in Dallas County, lists Uber, the driver and his limousine company as defendants. It seeks compensation of more than $1 million for medical expenses and mental and physical damages. Uber later said it 'mistakenly' issued driver's privileges to the driver, who had served time in federal prison on a weapons charge and was using a fake Dallas city driving permit. The jury determined that JPA IV Management Co. and JPA 1 Management Co., which owned and managed the hotel and garage, were negligent concluding the five-year case. With interest, the value of the award for Wahlstrom, now 41, increases to an estimated $6.6 million, said her lawyer. Bombard's tort claim is based on his belief that if Roudebush Medical Center physicians had ordered an MRI in the seven months when they could not alleviate his symptoms, the tumor would have been discovered and could have been treated.
