Erin Brockovich Says Something's Wrong with North TX Water
spacer image
The initial Facebook post targeted Plano water, although accusations were broadly against the larger water district. Now the claims and questions are a swirl of different issues, mostly about how the district is disinfecting the water and what chemicals are left when that water reaches residents' taps. The water for much of Collin County and parts of Dallas, Denton and other counties has been blamed for rashes, skin irritation, nose bleeds, coughs and other health problems.

Jurors are set to weigh an investment banker’s claims that using Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder for more than 30 years caused him to develop a deadly cancer linked to asbestos. A New Jersey jury will begin deciding Wednesday whether Stephen Lanzo III can legitimately blame J&J’s iconic product for his mesothelioma, an often-fatal cancer tied to asbestos exposure. Lanzo, a 46-year-old banker with U.S. Trust Corp., accuses the world’s largest health-care company of hiding that its talc-based products have contained asbestos for nearly a half century.

A former Notre Dame college athlete has filed a lawsuit over brain injuries he suffered while on the school football team. The plaintiff, who played for the school from 1974-78, has filed suit against Notre Dame and the NCAA for failing to protect a former player from brain injuries during his college career. The lawsuit was filed in Oct. 2014 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, two years after the plaintiff was diagnosed with the brain disease CTE but was told he "waited too long to file the case. The 8th District Court of Appeals overturned that decision and the case is on its way to the Ohio Supreme Court.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is facing a wrongful death lawsuit by the estate of a deceased broker. The lawsuit alleges that the broker took his life after becoming despondent because he was forced to retire by his employer. The lawsuit alleges that the bank pressured him to retire rather than granting a long-term disability so he could be treated for his mental illness. "They preferred to cast aside an employee they regarded as too old and too disabled to remain," states the complaint, which seeks unspecified damages.

Two separate lawsuits have been filed over the deaths of two victims in the debris flow following a massive 2017 fire in Montecito, California. The lawsuits have been filed against Southern California Edison and allege that the company failed to maintain its Santa Paula electrical facilities, leading to the deadly fire. As stated in the lawsuit, the fire resulted in massive and deadly debris flows a month later, which led to the death of twin 12-year-old girls. Another lawsuit was previously filed over the death of an elder male victim.
