Uber to Settle Class Action Over Driver Classification
spacer image
Uber has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over its classification of drivers with a $100 million settlement. Per the settlement, the ride-sharing company will be able to keep its California and Massachusetts drivers as independent contractors. Uber was accused in the lawsuit of misclassifying its drivers as independent contractors, therefore failing to provide them with proper reimbursement. The lawsuit was scheduled to go to trial in San Francisco in June. Of the $100 million settlement, reportedly $84 million will go to Uber drivers.
