Navy Mishandled Sexual Harassment Claims, Alleges Lawsuit |
|
A woman
from Orlando, Florida, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Navy over alleged
sexual harassment by a supervisor. The plaintiff, who worked as assistant
program manager for logistics in the Marine Corps Systems Command, alleges
that U.S. Navy Secretary Thomas B. Modly should have known about the
harassment and failed to reprimand the supervisor when he learned of it.
According to the lawsuit, the Navy fostered a workplace that "permeated with
unequal conditions for women, particularly assertive women in leadership
positions." The lawsuit was filed in Orlando federal court.

Former
Michigan Governor Sued Over Flint Legionnaires' Death |
|
A federal
judge has ruled that former Michigan governor Rick Snyder will face a lawsuit
filed by the estate of a woman who died of Legionnaires' disease during the
Flint water crisis. U.S. District Court Judge Judith E. Levy dismissed some of
the lawsuit's claims but will allow those against the former governor, certain
employees of the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy and
others. The lawsuit alleges the defendants violated Flint residents' "bodily
integrity" by exposing them to contaminated water and hiding what they knew
about it.
