Lawsuit: Police Repeatedly Searched Woman's Home for Dead Man | | A woman from Brooklyn, N.Y. has filed a lawsuit over police officers repeatedly barging into her apartment to search for her deceased husband. The woman's husband died in 2006, but police officers have come to search her apartment as recently as this Easter weekend without a warrant. The plaintiff's husband had a warrant out for his arrest before his death and despite the plaintiff displaying his death certificate on her door, police continue to invade her home looking for him. Border Patrol Cavity Search Lawsuit Partially Settled | | A lawsuit filed by a 54-year-old woman from New Mexico who was forced to undergo an invasive cavity search at a Border Patrol stop has been partially settled as of this week. The lawsuit was filed against the El Paso County Hospital District and two Customs and Border Protection supervisory agents and alleged that she was forced to undergo an unwarranted six-hour cavity search which the agency refused to pay for. Student Claims He Was Suspended Over False Rape Claim | | A former student at the University of Michigan has filed a lawsuit claiming he was kicked out of the school based on a false rape allegation for which he was never criminally charged. The lawsuit alleges that school officials violated his rights to due process when they suspended him from the university and names 10 administrators as defendants. Mother Files Suit Over Tough Mudder Obstacle Death | | The mother of a man who died after participating in an obstacle race in West Virginia has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the organizers of the event. The lawsuit alleges that Tough Mudder officials did not properly supervise or prepare safety precautions for the obstacle course. The plaintiff's son jumped from a platform into a 13-foot-deep pool of muddy water during a "walk the plank" obstacle and did not resurface. He died in the hospital the next day. The lawsuit was filed in Marshall County Circuit Court in West Virginia last month and is seeking unspecified damages and attorneys' fees.
