Little League Metal Bat Lawsuit Settled |
| Little League Baseball and Louisville Slugger have reached a $14.5 million settlement with the family of a young boy who was severely injured when hit by a line drive off a metal baseball bat. The strike supposedly stopped the boy's heart, resulting in severe brain damage. The lawsuit claimed the bat was not properly tested or marketed. Suit over Distracted Driving Crash Settled |
| A New Jersey couple injured in a car wreck with a text-messaging driver will receive $500,000 in a settlement with the driver. The plaintiffs each lost a leg due to injuries suffered in the crash; the driver has pleaded guilty to distracted driving. The couple is also planning on appealing a judge’s decision that the sender of the text message which the driver was replying to cannot be held liable. Woman Bit by Neighbor's Dog Files Suit |
| A Chicago woman has filed a lawsuit against her neighbor after being bit by the neighbor's bulldog while standing in her front yard. The suit cites state law that makes dog owners liable for damages and injuries caused by their pet to a person "peaceably conducting him/herself in any place that he/she may lawfully be."
