Grocery Stores Recall 60,000 Pounds of Ground Beef

Four major grocery store chains have issued a recall of 60,000 pounds of ground beef supplied by National Beef Packaging Co. The recall occurred at Publix, Winn-Dixie, Walmart, and Krogers stores in the southeast U.S. The company said the beef may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.  David Clark Scott, Christian Science Monitor  08/15/2011

Lawyer Files Suit Against Former Employer

A New York attorney has filed a lawsuit against his former firm, claiming he was wrongfully terminated during his first year of employment. The plaintiff claims in his lawsuit that he was fired a few days after e-mailing the firm's senior partners requesting more responsibility. His lawsuit also claims that he discovered fraudulent billing practices at the firm, but was let go shortly after making comments about them. Suit: Woman Subjected to Sexual Comments at Work

A Dallas woman has filed a lawsuit against her former employer, EmCare, claiming she was fired after complaining about repeated sexual comments made toward her. According to the lawsuit, the woman was subjected to "references to female employees' breasts, derogatory remarks about women and sexual jokes." Upon logging the complaints with human resources, the she said she was terminated.  Darren Barbee, Ft. Worth Star Telegram  08/17/2011
