Freestone County is located on the western edge of East Texas in a transitional area where the Piney Woods of East Texas fade into the Post Oak Region and the prairies of Central Texas. The best route from Freestone County to Tyler is to head east on Highway 84 passing through Turleton, Red Lake and Butler. Near the county line Highway 84 joins with Highway 79 and proceeds in a northeasterly direction through Tucker and on to Palestine. Stay on Highway 79 through Palestine and continue on toward Jacksonville passing through Neches and Ironton. In Jacksonville turn north onto U.S. Highway 69 and proceed toward Tyler passing through Mount Selman and Bullard. At the intersection with FM 346 turn right and turn left at the intersection of FM 756/South Paluxy Avenue. Go north through the intersection of Loop 323 in Tyler and turn right onto Golden Road.
