The manufacturers and sellers had argued in court filings that while the shooting was tragic. Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara N. At the center of the lawsuits is an infant death and two severe injuries allegedly caused by the hospital's deliveries of the infants. The lawsuits, each filed separately, allege that hospital staff failed to recognize when the babies were in distress and continued to have the mothers push for longer than was medically safe. Carter Sherman, Houston Press 10/14/2016 | Read Article: Houston Press | Houston Woman Files Suit Against VA Over Husband's Death | | A woman from Houston, Texas, has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Veterans Affairs over her husband's death. The plaintiff's husband died during an operation to remove a small tumor from his Adrenal gland. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff's husband told hospital staff that he previously had an allergic reaction to general anesthesia. Despite agreeing to use a local sedative instead, doctors gave the patient anesthesia, which caused his heart to give out. The lawsuit accuses hospital staff of negligence which caused the patient's death. Rucks Russell, KHOU-TV 10/14/2016 | Read Article: KHOU-TV | Government Seeks Dismissal of Charleston Church Shooting Lawsuits | | The federal government is seeking the dismissal of multiple wrongful death lawsuits over the 2015 shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. An attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice has requested that the lawsuits be dismissed on the grounds that the court does not have the proper jurisdiction and that the plaintiffs have failed to outline their claims. The lawsuits were filed by nine of the Emanuel AME Church shooting victims and allege that clerical errors allowed the shooter to purchase the weapon used in the deadly shooting.
