The two lawsuits were filed against Washington Gas and Kay Management over the explosion that took place at the Flower Branch Apartments on August 10. Officials say that 25 people were injured in the incident and about 150 have been displaced. It has been reported that investigators believe the cause of the fire and explosion was due to a gas leak in a pipe or a piece of equipment at or near the gas meter of the building. The Court is being asked to determine whether workplace sexual assault victims are entitled to the same rights as other workplace assault victims. Employers argue that sexual assault falls under limited state and federal sexual harassment statute and is therefore capped at $300,000 and subject to a pre-suit administrative process. Victims of other forms of assault face no such accountability shields. At least 700 incidents and nine injuries were reported, according to the CPSC. The injuries included a broken jaw and injured shoulder, though none were fatal.
