On Thursday U.S. District Judge David Hittner signed an order dismissing the lawsuit after the family accepted a $1.9 million settlement. The lawsuit was filed over Bland's death following a contentious arrest by Texas state troopers. The lawsuit named as defendants the Texas Department of Public Safety and two state troopers. The lawsuit alleges that some of the company's other phones may present a risk of fire and explosion. The plaintiff in the lawsuit alleges that his Samsung S6 phone exploded in the middle of the night while placed on a nightstand and plugged into an electric socket. Samsung has been facing legal action in recent weeks over its Galaxy Note 7 phones, which also have the potential to catch fire and explode.
