The dog died during the appointment at the pet store, in which he was scheduled for a nail trim. According to the lawsuit, minutes after the appointment began, the groomer came back with the unresponsive dog. A veterinarian at the store verified that the dog had died. The groomer was arrested the same day on suspicion of animal cruelty. The lawsuit against PetSmart alleges that the pet store chain has a history of animal cruelty complaints including severe cuts, overheating, strangulation and blunt force trauma. Odessa Gun & Pawn will pay the amount to settle a lawsuit alleging that it sold a gun to a mentally-ill woman, who used the weapon to kill her father. The lawsuit, filed by the woman's mother, alleged that the shop "negligently sold or entrusted a gun" to the woman. An hour after purchasing the gun in June 2012, the woman fatally shot her father. The man was treated at Boca Raton Regional Hospital following the illness he suffered before his death. According to the lawsuit, an investigation into the eating establishment following the man's death revealed a number of health violations.
