A federal lawsuit filed by the National Credit Union Administration Board alleges that a former El Paso credit union manager used $19 million in funds to benefit herself and her family by funneling money into several different accounts. The lawsuit was filed on October 15 against the former manager and her husband and contends that the woman "caused the credit union to issue about $19 million in unrecorded nonmember share certificates." The lawsuit alleges that the defendant used names of friends and deceased credit union members to funnel the money back to herself. A status hearing for the case is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.

Pickens also claimed he was promised $1.5 million in interest of Neofirma, a drilling software firm, for 'watching over the comapny,' and $500,000 in exchange for performing 'due diligence' on FLW Outdoors, an organizer of fishing tournaments that his father wanted to buy.

Eagle Ford Mineral-Rights Trial Underway
spacer image
The beneficiaries of the South Texas Syndicate Trust were ripped off by its one-time trustee, JPMorgan Chase Bank, in its management of valuable mineral rights in the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale, a lawyer for the beneficiaries told jurors during the opening of a trial Wednesday. More than half of the trust's approximately 280 beneficiaries sued the nation's largest bank in 2010 in Bexar County District Court, alleging the bank put its interests ahead of the rights holders. The trust owns the mineral rights to 132,000 acres in LaSalle and McMullen counties. It's the site of the Eagle Ford's first discovery well.
