TX High Court Again Rules That Slip-and-Fall Cases Aren't Med Mal |
For years, doctors and hospitals have successfully used Texas strict medical malpractice tort reform laws to defend themselves against plaintiff lawsuit even when the claims have nothing to do with health care. But the Texas Supreme Court has recently reminded the medical profession once again that they can't use the 2003 Texas Medical Liability Act to defend themselves against the most pedestrian of plaintiff claims slip-and-fall cases. Jury Rules In Family's Favor After Mother Bleeds to Death |
A jury has ruled in favor of the family of a mother from China who bled to death at a Garden Grove, California facility. The jury ruled that an obstetrician was negligent in the 26-year-old woman's death. The lawsuit was filed by the woman's husband, who said that his wife's death was caused by the doctor's negligence. According to the lawsuit, the doctor abandoned the woman and failed to give her treatment after she began to bleed to death. The woman's husband and two sons have been awarded $2 million. VW Failed to Report Death, Injuries in Connection with Cars |
It has been discovered that Volkswagen failed to report at least one death and several injuries in connection with its vehicles. According to reports, Volkswagen failed to report the incidents to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's database for tracking such incidents. Lawsuits over the auto accidents were filed over the last eight years, although the carmaker failed to report them. E. Coli in All American Beef Spurs Recall |
Over 167,000 pounds of beef have been recalled due to the potential presence of E. Coli. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the recall on Sunday and reported that the meat may be contaminated with E. Coli, a dangerous bacteria.
