Some want to avoid having to relive painful and embarrassing details of their gastrointestinal woes. Others aren't even aware that health agencies count them among the official victims. When most consumers experience a food-borne illness, the assumption is that the offending foodstuff is the most recent meal. For young, healthy adults sickened by Listeria, the potentially deadly bacteria can take up to 70 days to produce symptoms. That's a potential 210 meals and snacks to sort through.
