Parents of Lauren McCluskey File $56M Lawsuit Over Her Death

A lawsuit filed by the parents of Lauren McCluskey, a University of Utah student who was killed by her ex-boyfriend, have filed a $56 million lawsuit over her death. The lawsuit states that McCluskey gave a campus police officer explicit photos of herself in the hope that he could help protect her from her ex-boyfriend, who was blackmailing her. A week later, she was killed by the same man. The lawsuit is set for mediation this week.

National Safety Council: Roads More Deadly During Lockdown

U.S. highways have been emptier during the coronavirus pandemic, but they have also been more deadly, according to statistics released Wednesday. The National Safety Council said preliminary data show that in March, when most Americans began to drive less because of pandemic-related stay-at-home orders, the fatality rate per mile driven went up by 14 percent compared with March 2019. The traffic fatality data, compiled from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, confirm the alarming reports across the country that speeding and reckless driving during the health crisis are leading to a disproportionate number of crashes and fatalities.

Travis County Finds Virus Clusters in Construction, Other industries

Mandatory Testing Found Something One Facility Didn't Expect

Presbyterian Village North in Dallas found 0ne in three of the positive cases about a half dozen people were asymptomatic and were unknowingly spreading the virus. The mandatory tests identified them so nurses could isolate them and stop the spread.

McDonald's Hit With Lawsuit Over Coronavirus Response
 
Five employees of a McDonald's restaurant have filed a lawsuit over the restaurant's response to the coronavirus. The lawsuit alleges that McDonald's is not giving workers enough masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. Also named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which seeks class status, are four family members of the McDonald's employees. The lawsuit comes as the restaurant chain is preparing to reopen dining rooms across the country.

Multiple Covid-19 OSHA Complaints Against Amazon

Amazon workers have made multiple working condition complaints to the OSHA citing concerns over COVID-19. OSHA had received 35 complaints related to Amazon Fulfillment Center, Amazon-Whole Food Shoppers, Amazon Robotics, and Amazon Logistics sites as of May 18.
