Class Action Lawsuit Challenges Undisclosed "Resort Fee" |
A man from Studio City, California has filed a lawsuit challenging the common "resort fee" charged to hotel patrons. The class action lawsuit was filed against a Vegas casino and alleges that the resort "is guilty of false and misleading advertising for failing to clearly disclose a mandatory resort fee at the time that he booked the room." In 2012, the Federal Trade Commission sent out letters to 22 hotels that "may violate the law by providing a deceptively low estimate of what consumers can expect to pay for their hotel rooms." The lawsuit contends that the plaintiff was charged a $28 per night resort fee when he stayed at the Las Vegas resort. Hugo Martin, LA Times 03/22/2015 |
