U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla ruled that the company did not mislead its shareholders about the seriousness of the 2015 food-borne illness outbreaks. Claims stating that company executives committed fraud by selling company shares months before the first outbreak were also dismissed. Staff Report, 9NEWS - Colorado 03/09/2017 | Read Article: 9NEWS - Colorado | West Virginia County Targets Drug Distributers in Lawsuit | | Kanawha County, West Virginia, has filed a lawsuit against 16 prescription drug distributors alleging that they have sent an "endless supply" of painkillers to the county. The lawsuit alleges that between 2007 and 2012, the companies made billions of dollars by distributing 66 million prescription opioids to Kanawha County. Included in the list of plaintiffs are retailers Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, CVS, Kroger, and Walgreens, along with drug giants McKesson, Cardinal Health, and AmerisourceBergen. A similar lawsuit was filed by the Cabell County Commission on Thursday. The complaints are among a growing number of lawsuits seeking to hold prescription drug distributers for opioid drug addiction across the country. Eric Eyre, The Charleston Gazette 03/09/2017 | Read Article: The Charleston Gazette | NFL Faces Lawsuit Over Federal Drug Violations | | The National Football League (NFL) is facing a lawsuit by a number of players who say the league has violated federal laws governing prescription drugs, disregarded guidance from the Drug Enforcement Administration and overloaded its players with painkillers to keep them on the field. According to the lawsuit, 'every doctor deposed so far...has testified that they violated one or more federal drug laws and regulations while serving in their capacity as a team doctor.' The sealed court documents in the federal lawsuit against the NFL were reviewed by the Washington Post. Rick Maese, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 03/10/2017 | Read Article: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette | Second Lawsuit Filed Over SoyNut Butter E. Coli Outbreak | | A second lawsuit has been filed against The SoyNut Butter Company, whose 'I.M. Healthy' brand products have been linked to an outbreak of E. coli. There have been sixteen cases across the country so far linked back to the company, including the case of a 2-year-old boy who developed kidney failure after consuming the products. The lawsuit was recently filed in Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois over the boy's health issues. The other victims of the outbreak live in Arizona, California, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
