Kimberly-Clark has been named in a lawsuit alleging that its Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes are mislabeled as 'natural,' 'gentle' and 'hypoallergenic.' The federal lawsuit was filed on behalf of a San Diego, California woman and says that the baby wipes contain a synthetic chemical called phenoxyethanol, which may be harmful to children. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the chemical 'may cause vomiting and diarrhea' in infants. The complaint was filed March 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and seeks damages for unlawful business practices and acts, deceptive advertising, and other claims.

Texas High Court Tells BP Let Jury Decide on Lease Terms
spacer image
The Texas Supreme Court has rejected BP America Production Co.'s request that the justices take away decision-making power from juries. Instead the state's highest civil court ruled in a significant case for the energy industry, BP v. Laddex, that a retrial was necessary so a jury could decide what length of time should be used in determining when BP's operator mineral-rights lease expired due to the well no longer producing "paying quantities."
