NCAA, Big Ten Named in Head Injury Lawsuit by Group of Ex-Players |
The NCAA and the Big Ten conference are named in a lawsuit by four former football players who contend they suffered permanent damage from head injuries. The named player formerly played football for Ohio State, and three other unnamed players said they were from Duke, Tennessee and Michigan. The lawsuit seeks class action status and represents "all individuals who participated in Ohio State's varsity football program between 1952 and 2010." The lawsuit accuses the defendants of "negligence, fraudulent concealment (of the effects of brain injuries), breach of contract (to protect players)," among other claims. Frito-Lay Recalls Rold Gold Pretzels for Peanut Residue in Flour |
Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall on a number of their Rold Gold pretzel packages due to the potential presence of peanut residue. Rold Gold pretzels are sold in stores and often in vending machines. The recall was issued after last week's recall of doughnuts and snack cakes made by Hostess. Both Hostess and Frito-Lay have cited a recall of flour by Grain Craft. The FDA has reported that Grain Craft sells only to manufacturers and does not sell its flour directly to consumers.
