Blinded Woman Files Suit Against Exercise Band Maker |
A New York woman has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of an exercise band which caused her to go blind. The woman was blinded when the exercise band she was using snapped, causing a hard plastic ball to hit her in the eye. The lawsuit names the maker of the band, BRG Sports, formerly Easton-Bell Sports, as the defendant. The company is accused of negligence and defective design. Amtrak Accused of Negligence in Railway Worker Deaths |
Amtrak is facing a negligence lawsuit over a fatal collision near Philadephia which ended in the deaths of two railway workers. The lawsuit was filed in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court on behalf of the family of a 61-year-old victim who was killed in the April collision. The two rail workers were killed "when a train traveling 106 mph struck a backhoe on the same track." Texas Contractor Removed from Bulldozer Death Lawsuit |
The contract employer at Total Petrochemicals' refinery in Port Arthur, Texas has been dismissed from a wrongful death lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by the family of a man who died when the bulldozer he was operating fell down an embankment. The 57-year-old man from Georgia died when he fell into near-boiling wastewater while he was operating the bulldozer. The man was performing work with the bulldozer which is usually performed by an overhead crane, which was out of service. The contractor was removed as a defendant in the lawsuit at the request of attorneys for the man's ex-wife and mother, who have also filed suit over the death.
