Hurricane Ike Contractor Case Goes to Texas Supreme Court |
The Texas Supreme Court will decide whether a Beaumont construction company can sue the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission for money it says it is still owed for rebuilding homes after Hurricane Ike. Byrdson Services, one of several contractors hired by the commission after the 2008 storm, seeks to settle a two-year dispute about payment of a portion of $3.5 million it says the planning commission made in profit. The court will decide whether the commission was in breach of its contract, an accusation the commission claims it is immune from because of the local government code.
