Conn. Settles Lawsuit Over Train Derailment |
The state of Connecticut has settled one of many lawsuits filed over a train derailment which ended in 76 injuries. The derailment took place in May and over 25 lawsuits have been filed over the incident. The most recently settled lawsuit will end in a $2.3 million payout by the state. The lawsuit was filed by a woman who was injured in the crash that took place in Bridgeport. Many of the lawsuits filed over the incident alleged serious or permanent injuries. Amtrak Settles Lawsuit Over Superstorm Sandy Losses |
Amtrak has recently settled a lawsuit against its insurance provider seeking to recover the proceeds for Superstorm Sandy losses from its insurers. The lawsuit was settled, according to court documents, however the details of the settlement have not been released. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court of Southern District of New York by Amtrak. The suit has been dismissed with prejudice and without costs or interest to several primary insurance company defendants including Arch Specialty Insurance, Federal Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance, Maxum Indemnity and Navigators Insurance. Parents File Suit After Child Bitten 11 Times at Day Care |
A civil lawsuit has been filed by the parents of a 22-month-old boy who was allegedly bitten 11 times during his first day at day care. The lawsuit was filed 24th Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish on Saturday and contends that the plaintiff's son sustained a number of bites due to the day care owner's negligence. The 25-year-old day care owner was arrested on July 13 and charged with child desertion in the incident. Lawsuit: Man Crashed Truck Into Limo, Killing Four |
A New York man who was named in a workplace accident lawsuit last year has been charged in another accident, this time with a limousine, that took place on Saturday. The marine services company co-owner was driving a pickup truck which crashed into the limousine and caused the deaths of four women. Last year, a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the man by the family of an employee who died in January 2014 when a bucket attachment on a skid-steer loader fell and crushed him.
