Lawyers representing the families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have asked the judge hearing their case against Remington Arms Co. and other defendants to reject the gunmaker's request to keep company documents sealed from public view. Remington Arms has asked Bridgeport Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis to keep records it views as proprietary from being made public. The company's court filing said that for competitive reasons, it does not want the public or its competitors to see the records. The company has also asked the judge to dismiss the suit.

The family of Philando Castile, a Minnesota man recently shot to death by police during a traffic stop, are planning to file a lawsuit over his death. On Monday, The Hatchett Law Firm agreed to represent Castile's family in the lawsuit. A 28-year-old police officer shot the 32-year-old Castile to death last Wednesday in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights. Castile's girlfriend live-streamed the aftermath of the deadly incident on Facebook from the backseat of the car. The Hatchett Law Firm has "promised an aggressive investigation beyond the current one by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension."
