Portland Timbers Dismissed from Player's Brain Injury Lawsuit
spacer image
The Portland Timbers soccer team is no longer a defendant in a $9.9M brain injury lawsuit filed by the team's former forward. The former player filed suit against the team and others after he began suffering from brain damage. According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered brain damage after the defendants allowed him to return to the field following a concussion. The plaintiff retired from the sport in 2012 due to concussion symptoms. The lawsuit was originally filed in the Multnomah County Circuit Court. Remaining as defendants in the lawsuit are the club's Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Nik Wald.
