A man from Minneapolis has alleged in a lawsuit that he was raped by his Boy Scout leader 35 years ago on multiple occasions in 1980 and 1981, when the plaintiff was 13 years old. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court and alleges that the plaintiff was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the Boy Scout leader while he was serving as an usher at University of Minnesota sporting events. There have been nearly a dozen similar lawsuits filed in Minnesota under the Child Victims Act.

Dirty Scopes Needlessly Infected Scores of Patients, Investigation Finds
spacer image
Scores of hospital patients treated with medical scopes were infected with potentially deadly bacteria because of repeated failures by manufacturers, regulators and hospitals to report outbreaks, according to a U.S. Senate investigation released Wednesday. The investigators said they had found 25 outbreaks — including two in Los Angeles — linked to a device known as a duodenoscope, far more than previously reported. And they said that numerous flaws in the federal government's oversight of medical devices are continuing to put patients at risk "with life-threatening consequences."

Class Action

EOS Lip Balm Causes Rashes, Cracked Lips, Lawsuit Says
spacer image
EOS lip balm is facing a class action lawsuit alleging that its products cause adverse reactions, such as rashes and cracked lips. The lawsuit was filed by a woman who contends her use of the product caused her to develop a rash and her lips to crack and bleed. According to the complaint, the woman's "lips and surrounding skin area had severe blistering and rashes causing her to seek medical care." The company is guilty of false advertising, marketing its lip balm as "healthy, as a cure for celebrity problems, and as a travel companion," the lawsuit alleges. The plaintiff is seeking damages and corrective advertising in the lawsuit.
