The driver cruised through the red light. They were broadsided by pick-up who had the green light. According to a lawsuit filed by her family the Uber van she was riding in was not insured. And that driver, he had been arrested numerous times for various run-ins with the law. Even the van was owned by someone else. Coca-Cola Co and the American Beverage Association trade group were named in a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging that they have been downplaying health issues related to consuming the beverages. The lawsuit says that the defendants intentionally used terms like "balance" and "calories in, calories out" to mislead consumers in order to boost sales. In addition, the lawsuit states that the companies mislead the public into thinking a lack of exercise was the real cause of obesity. The jury determined Thursday Dupont is on the hook for $10.5 million in punitive damages, on top of a previous award of $2 million in compensatory damages. Kenneth Vigneron was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages shortly before Christmas. The jury returned for a punitives phase Wednesday.
