Royal Caribbean Faces Lawsuit Over Sailing Through Storm
spacer image
A lawsuit has been filed against cruise ship company Royal Caribbean by a passenger on a ship which was recently battered in a storm off the Atlantic Coast. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Miami last week and contends that officials should not have allowed the ship to sail with concerns of a storm brewing. The trip began on Feb. 6 when the ship set off from the New Jersey coast. While the ship traveled through a large storm, it was damaged. The plaintiff, along with many other passengers, was injured as the ship was tossed around at sea. The plaintiff contends that he was not given medical treatment immediately after he was flung around his cabin and knocked unconscious. The lawsuit alleges negligence and seeks damages for pain and suffering, interest, court costs and all other relief the court deems necessary.

A bullying lawsuit has been filed against the school district of Killeen, Texas by a student's father. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff's daughter was frequently bullied over a period of three years during which time officials at Rancier Middle School failed to take action. The lawsuit contends that the middle school girl was bullied, harassed and assaulted, physically and sexually, on a nearly daily basis by her male classmates. The father alleges that he filed at least six complaints with the school district and no action was taken to protect the girl. The complaint further alleges that school district police were unable to produce records regarding the girl's harassment, including surveillance footage in connection with the alleged assaults.
