Safety Group: Traffic Deaths Jump by MostSsince 1966

The National Safety Council on Wednesday announced preliminary analysis showed 38,300 roadway deaths in the U.S. last year. That was an increase of 8 percent from 2014, the highest year-to-year jump since 1966.Texas led the nation with 3,490 deaths on roads and highways. Despite California having roughly 12 million more residents, it had 240 fewer traffic deaths.

Wisconsin Mother Says Children's Father to Blame for Fatal Crash

A woman from Wisconsin has filed suit against the father of her children alleging that he is to blame for the death of one child and injuries to two others in a car crash. The lawsuit alleges that the father's negligence regarding seat belt restraints contributed to the death of his son and serious injuries to two of his other children. A 9-year-old boy died in the accident while the other two children injured were aged 6 and 10 at the time of the accident. The mother filed a civil suit last year against the father of her children and Pekin Insurance seeking damages, in part for emotional trauma and loss of society and companionship

Toyota Recalls 2.9M SUVs Over Seat Belts

oyota said Thursday it is recalling nearly 2.9 million sports utility vehicles, including more than 1.1 million in the U.S., because of seat belts that might fail in a crash. The recall covers RAV4 SUVS from the 2005 through 2014 model years, the RAV4 electric vehicle from 2012 through 2014, sold in North America, and the Vanguard sold in Japan from 2005-2016, the Japanese automaker said.
