Dallas Surgeon May Face Life After Jury Finds Him Guilty of Maiming 74-Year-Old | | A Dallas County jury on Tuesday convicted a neurosurgeon, Christopher Duntsch, of deliberately maiming an elderly patient รข?? one in a series of botched back surgeries. Duntsch, who practiced medicine at various hospitals in Dallas and Collin counties, was accused of crippling four patients and causing the death of two between July 2012 and June 2013. Mary Efurd, was 74 years old in 2012 when she went under Duntsch's knife and lost a third of her blood and the use of her leg. Because of Efurd's age, Duntsch faces up to life in prison. Chicken, Pork Products in California and Texas Recalled for Listeria | | Certain chicken and pork products distributed throughout Texas, California and Oregon have been recalled due to listeria concerns. On Saturday, federal officials announced the recall of 6,630 pounds of chicken and pork salad products produced by Taylor Farms, located in Dallas, Texas, and Tracy, California. The recall states that the potentially tainted products were distributed to Roanoke, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas; Los Angeles and Tracy, California; and Portland, Oregon. Mitch Mitchell, Ft. Pittsburgh Medical Center Sued After Sixth Patient Death From Mold Outbreak | | The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is facing another lawsuit regarding patient deaths related to a mold outbreak. Reports say that a sixth patient has died due to the outbreak at the hospital. Attorneys are filing a wrongful death lawsuit representing the estates of multiple patients who died, saying the deaths were caused by the fungal infection.
