Click on the headline to learn more. | Suit Filed over Woman's Death after Childbirth | | The death of a young Missouri woman has prompted a lawsuit against her partner and a religious group of which he is a member. The suit claims that the man was involved in a religious group that prohibits medical care, and that belief led to the victim's death after the stillbirth delivery of the couple's baby. The woman died from an infection caused by dirty scissors one of the midwives used to on her during the birth, the suit says. The student was found with a synthetic drug in his pocket and was subjected to four to six hours of intense interrogation by school officials and police, "denying him his right to due process and his right not to incriminate himself," the suit says. The student's parents were not contacted, which is a violation of school policy. Two police officers were on patrol in Glassell Park when they came upon the victim and two friends playing "cops and robbers;" one of the officers, mistaking the toy guns for real ones, shot the boy once in the chest. The boy was paralyzed as a result of the gunshot. In a report posted on the agency’s Web site over the weekend, the agency says its investigation covers 2008-10 Ford Fusions, Mercury Milans and Lincoln MKZ models. No criminal charges have been filed, but Salt Lake City police are investigating the "suspicious death."
