Click on the headline to learn more and register. | Texas Tribune Daily Brief | | Deceptive Auto Repair Lawsuit Returns to Louisiana Court | | A lawsuit filed by the state of Louisiana alleging deceptive auto repair practices by State Farm Insurance that had been moved to federal court in Orlando will return to court in Louisiana. The lawsuit was to be consolidated with similar cases when it was moved to Orlando, but Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell's office announced on Wednesday that the case would return to Louisiana. The lawsuit alleges that State Farm pushed its customers to use auto repair shops that used "junkyard," "knock-off" or "after-market" parts to repair cars, rather than manufacturer-issued parts. According to the lawsuit, the use of the used parts compromised the safety and aesthetics of the car owner's vehicles.
