The lawsuit accuses the defendants of wrongful death in placing the children in the custody of their father. The man has been charged with five counts of murder in the strangling deaths of his children, who range in age from 1 to 8 years old. According to authorities, the man killed the children in South Carolina in 2014 but drove around for nine days before dumping their bodies in a field in rural Alabama. The man was arrested at a traffic checkpoint in Mississippi. The mother is seeking damages for the "wrongful deaths and conscious pain and suffering of her children." The court ordered three individuals who were with the child at the daycare facility when he died to pay the $250,000 to the mother. No charges were filed in the child's death, but the detective who investigated the death has been placed on administrative leave following claims of falsified affidavits. The detective was placed on leave in Sept. 2015 after allegations surfaced that she "included information in narratives and charging affidavits that wasnâ??t true."
