New Lawsuit Filed Against EPA Over Flint Water Crisis

A new lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) alleges that it took 18 months to investigate claims of poor water quality in Flint, Michigan. The complaint was filed on Monday and seeks about $220 million in damages. According to the lawsuit, federal officials dragged their feet in responding to about 120 complaints about the city's poor water quality. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of 514 residents of the city of Flint.

Oregon Farmworker Strangled to Death by Safety Vest, Family Files Suit

The death of an Oregon farmworker strangled by a safety vest is the subject of a lawsuit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court. The lawsuit was filed by the family of the 51-year-old worker who was strangled to death by his safety vest after it became stuck in rotating machinery. The incident took place on Sept. 18, 2015, when the man was harvesting hazelnuts. The lawsuit names as defendants the machine's manufacturer, Dejong Products of Sheridan, and the company that sold and serviced the machine, Oregon Vineyard Supply Co. of McMinnville.

Pilgrim's Pride Recalls 4.5M Pounds of Chicken Sold to Schools

Pilgrimâ??s Pride ordered a massive recall of cooked chicken products Tuesday after consumers and federal meat inspectors found contamination by such foreign material as wood, plastic, rubber and metal. The items were shipped nationwide for institutional use, and records from the Waco, Texas-based company show schools purchased the products through Pilgrimâ??s Pride commercial channels.
