Uber Faces Lawsuit Over Gratuity Surcharge | | Transportation service Uber is facing another lawsuit by consumers challenging the service's mandatory 20% gratuity surcharge for rides. According to the lawsuit, Uber retains "a substantial portion" of the gratuity and keeps it as additional revenue, instead of giving it to the company's drivers. A judge in San Francisco denied the company's request to have the lawsuit dismissed. The lawsuit, filed earlier this year, seeks class-action status on behalf of Uber customers.
