Dow AgroSciences has violated a California law by failing to warn a Central Valley community that it was exposed to risky levels of a cancer-causing pesticide, according to a new lawsuit by the Center for Environmental Health. The suit alleges that the chemical company should have given notice to the residents of a community in Shafter, California, when growers used 1,3-Dichloropropene, a popular but toxic pesticide manufactured exclusively by Dow.

Florida Supreme Court Denies Arbitration in Nursing Home Lawsuit
spacer image
The Florida Supreme Court has rejected arbitration in a lawsuit over injury to a nursing home patient. Across the state, nursing homes previously required patients to sign forms that forced any lawsuits into arbitration. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a nursing home patient whose eye was removed after he suffered an infection at Hampton Court Nursing Center in 2011. The patient died in 2013, but his son filed a lawsuit against the center over the loss of his father's eye.
