Dow Sued for Not Warning CA Residents of Pesticide Risk |
Dow AgroSciences has violated a California law by failing to warn a Central Valley community that it was exposed to risky levels of a cancer-causing pesticide, according to a new lawsuit by the Center for Environmental Health. The suit alleges that the chemical company should have given notice to the residents of a community in Shafter, California, when growers used 1,3-Dichloropropene, a popular but toxic pesticide manufactured exclusively by Dow. Toyota Must Face Camry Moldy Stench Suit, Judge Says |
California federal judge on Tuesday denied most of Toyota Motor Sales USAâ??s bid to escape a proposed class action lawsuit by car owners accusing the automaker of hiding an air conditioning defect that causes foul-smelling mold, saying their complaint adequately pled alleged wrongdoing on the part of the company. Chipotle Hit With $7.65M Verdict In Sexual Harassment Suit |
A Texas state court jury has awarded $7.65 million to a woman after finding a Chipotle assistant store manager had sexually assaulted her when she was a minor and the restaurant chain had subjected her to sexual harassment. The jury found that Gerardo Solis sexually assaulted the woman in 2014, when he was 26 and she was 16, according to the verdict it reached Monday. Florida Supreme Court Denies Arbitration in Nursing Home Lawsuit |
The Florida Supreme Court has rejected arbitration in a lawsuit over injury to a nursing home patient. Across the state, nursing homes previously required patients to sign forms that forced any lawsuits into arbitration. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a nursing home patient whose eye was removed after he suffered an infection at Hampton Court Nursing Center in 2011. South Carolina Widow Files Suit Over Husband's Dam Collapse Death |
A South Carolina widow has filed a lawsuit against the federal government over a dam collapse which killed her husband in Oct. 2015. The plaintiff's husband was killed in a flood after a dam on Fort Jackson broke. The woman is one of 100 individuals who are seeking to file suit against the government over the deadly dam collapse. Houston Bar Faces DOJ Discrimination Lawsuit |
The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a discrimination lawsuit against a bar in Houston. The lawsuit alleges that the bar, 360 Midtown, forced blacks, Latinos and Asian-American patrons to pay a $20 cover fee, when white patrons were not charged. The Department of Justice took over the case after numerous complaints by local patrons. Samsung Faces Lawsuit Over Exploding Washing Machines |
A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Samsung over its exploding washing machines. The lawsuit alleges that machines' violent vibrating causes them to "become unfastened, resulting in a dramatic centrifugal explosion that destroys the machine and nearby property." According to the lawsuit, Samsung was aware of the problem for years, but failed to warn consumers. The lead plaintiffs in the case are three women from Texas, Indiana and Georgia.
