Lawsuit: Two DFW Dealerships Disconnected Airbag Before Fatal Crash |
A lawsuit has been filed suit against Moritz Kia in Fort Worth and Discount Motors in Arlington, alleging that an airbag system in a minivan had been disabled before a traffic accident in 2013 that resulted in the deaths of a Fort Worth couple. Former Cal Football Player Files Concussions Lawsuit |
A former Cal football player has filed a lawsuit over head injuries he suffered while on the school team. The former player, who played on the football team in 1970 and 1971, filed suit on Thursday against the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference. The plaintiff contends that he has suffered lifetime debilitations caused by concussions he sustained while playing football. Appeals Court Sends Uber Background Check Lawsuit to Arbitration |
A federal appeals court has sent a lawsuit filed by Uber drivers over background checks to arbitration. The recent ruling handed down by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco is expected to affect a more prominent lawsuit to determine whether drivers should be considered employees or independent contractors. The lawsuit filed against Uber, which sought class-action status, alleged that the ride-sharing company violated a federal law and various California laws by refusing to sign on drivers due to their consumer credit reports. UPMC Settles Mold Infection Death Lawsuit |
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) has settled a lawsuit filed by the Ohio family of a patient who died of a mold infection contracted at the hospital. The death was the second of three cases involving patient deaths due to mold in an intensive care unit room at the facility. The medical negligence lawsuit was filed Aug. 25 in the Probate Court of Franklin County, Ohio by the family of a 27-year-old heart transplant patient who died of a mold infection in June 2015. Texas Police Dept., Officers Released from $5M Fatal Shooting Lawsuit |
The Police Department of Levelland, Texas and several of its officers have been dropped from a $5 million lawsuit over the shooting death of a local resident. The lawsuit was filed by the widow of the 55-year-old man who was fatally shot by officers responding to a disturbance call. An autopsy report showed that while the man also had a number of stab wounds, the gunshot wounds were the cause of his death. The police filed a motion on July 22 to release them from the lawsuit citing qualified immunity. Mazda is recalling 2.2 million cars and SUVs worldwide because the rear hatches can fall on people and injure them. The recall covers certain 2010 through 2013 Mazda 3 compact cars, as well as 2012 through 2015 Mazda 5 vans. Also included are certain 2013 to 2016 CX-5 and 2016 CX-3 SUVs.
